Compassionate, Experienced, and Here to Help

My Background
My credentials:
2004 - Graduated from Brandeis University with a BA in Sociology
2008 - Graduated from Smith College School for Social Work with a MSW
2012 - Earned my LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker)
My experience prior to opening my private practice in 2019:
-
I provided mental health counseling to adult individuals and couples, families and children in a variety of settings, including Harborview Abuse & Trauma Center, Catholic Community Services, and Seattle Therapy Group.
-
I was a case manager at Amara, a child welfare agency, where I supported foster and adoptive families.
-
I lead couples workshops for expectant and new parents (Bringing Baby Home) at Thresholds, an organization for childbirth education and support.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State, and I belong to the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association.
Therapeutic Approach
My mission is to help hard-working, overwhelmed people find more peace, meaning and joy in their everyday lives. But every person I work with is different, and my approach is tailored to your wishes and goals.
I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic and attachment theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy for Individuals, and Self-Compassion.
I believe in the healing power of relationships -- the relationship you have with yourself, your relationships with your loved ones past or present, as well as the working relationship I hope to build with you.
I offer in-office, walk-and-talk, and video sessions to provide flexibility and comfort in how we engage in counseling.

A Little More About Me
Originally from the Boston area, I've lived in Seattle for twenty years. I love the slightly slower pace and natural beauty of the Northwest. My husband and I have been married for sixteen years. We have two "tween" age kids and a pup, Hugo (that's him on the right). In my free time I enjoy most anything involving exercise and the outdoors, yoga, writing, food, listening to music, and browsing consignment stores.
I identify as white, cisgender, and heterosexual. I strive to learn and grow in understanding my identity and privilege, in an effort to be as free of bias as possible in my practice.
I maintain a small caseload, which allows me to focus on providing high-quality, personalized care for each client. I prioritize my own personal and professional development through training, consultation, and going to counseling myself.

At home bonding with Hugo.

Areas of Expertise
My areas of expertise include stress management, life transitions, relationship issues, self-esteem, parenting support, and foster care/adoption issues. But if the challenge you're facing isn't on this list, that doesn't mean we couldn't be a good fit working together.
